Find your body size

It can be hard to figure out your body type, but its necessary step you need to take to figure out what types of clothes may look best for you! I found a simple quiz that helped me.

*BODY TYPE QUIZ*

I was a rectangle. Really consider your answers, look in the mirror and determine each answer carefully.

Please, comments on whether or not you agree with your results or any thoughts on the subject.

I HEART esty

ETSY! is a great community of people who sell items THEY make! I linked you to a search for "funky headbands" because of my last post. I think they're a great way to add a real pop to your complete look. Take a look around the rest of the website, they have everything under the sun. I found found some really adorable stuff at affordable prices. You could purchase some items or get dirty and make your own! Great ideas to get the creativity flowing.

Spunk up an ordinary top with frisky hair!

I added a leopard print scarf to my hair. It added something to draw something to my face/ chest area rather than my more problem areas. (waist!) I bought this scarf at a thrift store for $1. I have many different styles, colors, sizes and shapes that I use for an array of things, not just my hair. You can tie one around the strap of your purse to compliment your outfit. Ive tucked them into my pocket with a part showing before. You could fold it up and wrap it around your wrist. You don't have to wrap it in your hair either, you can tie it in or find new funky ways to use it.

T-Shirt Weaving

A DIY project that will have you re-vamping those old dusty tee's in the back of your closet, making them hot new items. The BEST part?! You need shirts that are too small! Who doesn't have ten of those laying around? :P
T-Shirt Weaving!

Here's a quick view of my first attempt at t shirt weaving.
It looks like there might be a trick to this but its actually very simple.

All you need is
  • Tshirt
  • Sharp scissors
  • Ruler
  • You might need pins or other small items if you decide to do a different style.

It may take a little practice if your going to use baggy shirts that you need to cut the neck line on. It does really make some of them more attractive. If you're really interested you can do some research online about the different styles that you can cut the neck line into. Try it out with shirts your really don't care for first or find a local thrift shop and pick up a used one to try a hack job on. I followed this video on YouTube, this girl is great!

Fashion Hazard

A photo of me (17 years old) I'm 24 now. A few more of my fashion hazards before I reveal my closet!

Frump to Funk?

hellos to all.

I've always see these big beautiful plus sized woman with awesome fashion sense. I admire their confidence. They are big and beautiful and you can tell they are proud. They look great.
I have always loved fashion, but as a teenager you would have never known. I wore baggy tee shirts, pants, shorts... Anything I could find that was baggy! I just wanted to hide everything I didn't like. I began to realize after high school that I only made myself look like I was drowning in fabrics. I wanted to re-invent myself. Show off some of my best features and really break out that cute stuff I've always wanted to wear.
Learning what not to wear for my type of body has been a long battle that I'm continuing to try and conquer. Its been many years since that baggy mess I used to be but I think I've made some progress and really gained confidence in myself!
When I started this journey I didn't have much money and high hopes for the cents I could stretch. I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning because I wanted to just get the cute stuff in my closet and get it over with. But it takes a lot of time and if your pinching pennies, much longer! I bought many, many outfits that just weren't right for me. I tend to buy things out of the ordinary because I like the funky, indie, retro, or unique style to it, but I learned along the way it was to fit me right too or its a waste! Sometimes the piece was too extreme. So extreme that I couldn't muster the confidence to wear it.
I'm going to show you my closet; teach you tips and tricks I learned along the way. Show you fun DIY fashions, and teach you how to be a more thrifty shopper. Hopefully you will learn a thing or two from my experience. I would love to hear your tips & tricks or stories about you becoming frump to funk.
